Los verbos regulares ingleses se caracterizan por tener una morfología muy sencilla y predecible (por ello son regulares). Tienen únicamente estas cuatro formas básicas:

El infinitivo va precedido por la partícula to.
De la forma de infinitivo (forma raíz) se derivan, para los verbos regulares y la gran mayoría de los irregulares, las otras tres restantes formas (formas derivadas).
Con las cuatro formas básicas, aisladas o combinadas con los verbos auxiliares, se construyen todos los tiempos verbales.
Para identificar un verbo se utiliza la forma enunciativa constituida por la forma de infinitivo, el pasado simple y el participio pasado: to work, worked, worked, trabajar.
